Microdermabrasion is the least invasive treatment offered at Advanced Dermatology. It is great for exfoliating dead skin cells off of the face and leaves the skin glowing, soft and smooth. This treatment also allows for better penetration of any topical products into the skin. This procedure is performed by using a diamond tipped hand piece that is passed over the skin 2-3 times, evenly removing its outermost layer. When used in conjunction with a tiny vacuum, this process promotes the regeneration of new collagen, which thickens the dermis and improves the skin's resistance to the effects of aging. Microdermabrasion usually takes less than 30 minutes and can help treat superficial acne scarring, fine lines, sun damaged skin and can help remove dry patches of skin. Best results are achieved when a series of six peels are performed over a 6-12 week period, in conjunction with other skin rejuvenation services. Individual treatments or a series of six pre-paid peels may be purchased.
